Today I share with you the life-changing, body-correcting, mind-shifting, health-boosting story of Melissa Woolfson… Melissa originally posted on my main Joey Atlas blog here – as she shared the short version of her story – and also raised her hand to be a Joey Atlas Ambassador for the new SCULPTAFIT Studios for Women

I followed up for more info and she was thrilled to share the deeper details of her story, which includes going from an unhealthy, out of shape phase of life in her early 20’s to a fit and successful version of herself in her mid 30’s (which includes becoming a mom!)
Here is the inspiring Q&A I did with Melissa:
JOEY: Take me back to when you first discovered me and the ‘original’ ULBHTM dvds. How many years ago?
MELISSA: Goodness, it must be at least 8 years ago, possibly 10, that I ordered the ULBTHM with much excitement!
JOEY: Were you into fitness at the time? If so – for how long? If not – what triggered your desire to start getting into it?
MELISSA: Yes I was definitely into fitness at the time. At that point I had been a gym-goer for about 6 years but I was disappointed with my results in getting my booty round & lifted, inner-thighs tighter, and getting the other problem areas to look good.
JOEY: Were you searching for a solution to certain challenges of your lower body, etc..?
MELISSA: I certainly was. In my early twenties I went through high levels of stress and didn’t eat much and as a result, I lost a heap of weight, mostly muscle, and started a stress response in my thyroid making it overactive and burning even more muscle, in addition to other fun complications.
So with all this muscle being used as fuel my butt almost completely disappeared. And everything else looked just as bad. Very unhealthy. I can’t remember exactly how I came across the ULBHTM but I was so excited to start it.
JOEY: What goals did you have in mind when you decided to buy the ULBHTM dvds?
MELISSA: My aim was to firm up my thighs, rebuild the butt and get that lifted healthy shape back. I’m naturally a pear shape, but with no butt it really didn’t look right. I was all out of proportion and it felt horrible.
JOEY: How did you start fitting them into your weekly schedule?
MELISSA: I started off once a week, just fitting DVD #1 in around things. I found even with just that one session/week and the ULBHTM being body weight based, I could definitely always feel those muscles being activated and stimulated, I knew it was working.
I was a bit surprised as never knew how much one can get out of doing body-weight exercises. I was very familiar with weights and machines, so this whole experience was quite eye-opening.
JOEY: What were you feeling in the early stages – and then as the weeks/months progressed?
MELISSA: As I progressed with using the ULBHTM and added it into my schedule 3-4 times/week I noticed more dramatic changes. Not just the firmness in my thighs & butt and the shape of my butt coming back; but it made me stronger in my leg workout at the gym as well.
Activating all the muscles properly through the ULBHTM changed that for me. Along with physically looking and feeling more confidant, my libido increased considerably. My partner thanks you Joey!!
JOEY: Can you describe any visible changes?
MELISSA: I went from pancake butt to check out this butt! And along with the improvements I mentioned above; There was also a clear and definite reduction in the appearance of cellulite. As you can imagine when my muscles went limp and everything deflated, the cellulite effect was drastic.
But as I continued with the ULBHTM – the dimples and shadows faded away until I could hardly see them anymore. They’re literally almost non-existent now. And at 34 years old, having gone through one pregnancy already, it feels good to know the body can bounce back beyond what you ever thought was possible.
JOEY: What aspects of the program and my ‘approach’ make it unique, in your eyes?
MELISSA: It is unique in that its focus is on natural, complete, specific movements to activate muscles to their full potential. Simple yet effective. Too many programs complicate things to try and be unique, but Joey you keep it simplified, functional and sustainable.
And the biggest key difference-maker is the degree of results a woman gets with your method. I mean, almost any woman can do this, even someone who has never set foot in a gym before.
JOEY: Can you share why the mindset/life philosophy/balance aspects resonate with you? And how these elements have helped you?
I am a big believer in perfecting the basics before moving onto more complex workouts. While the ULBHTM is definitely a challenge, it focuses on mastering the most basic movements with complete muscle activation and really feeling those muscles fibers fire.
The mind body connection is one of the most important tools and this was made clear for me, more through the ULBHTM than in any of my previous fitness studies. This is something I believe I have now mastered and has helped me gain my titles in the physique competitions.
JOEY: You also mention increased libido. Can you describe what may be the actual triggers for this? In other words – I sense there was lower libido “before” and then as time progressed – libido increased/strengthened – as you got more consistent with the ULBHTM program? I’m not surprised by this – I actually expect it – but am interested in your words on it.
MELISSA: It’s mostly about the confidence you gain I believe Joey. At least that is the case for me. Before the ULBHTM I felt skinny fat.
I had no shape, just a skinny girl with cellulite and no butt. Doing your program consistently smoothed out the cellulite dramatically, brought back my strong but feminine, curvy body and gave me the confidence in looking amazing naked!
