Today, we have a cool and helpful video tip contribution from the author of “Morning Burn”, Derek Wahler, Senior Wellness Coach…
Derek’s philosophy of “Morning Burn” is based on the time tested principle of performing activity in the morning, on an empty stomach (water and lemon ok – but not food/breakfast until AFTERWARDS).
This is something that has been part of my lifestyle/daily-routine for about the last 8 years – as you may already know, from previous articles/newsletters…

Your Main Takeaways From Derek’s Video Tips:
A – Take advantage of the body’s “primed” state, first thing in the morning. This can either be to burn off excess fat, or to maintain fat-loss once you’ve reached your target body-composition zone.
B – You can do this with as little as 5-10 minutes of activity – and you don’t even have to leave your house to do it. So, you can use some of Derek’s suggestions, or you can pick a few of the short instructional videos on this site, or you can use short segments from any of my complete programs…
C – Keep your morning calorie intake light – and let your body focus on using body-fat for energy. (I’ll write more about this over the weekend).
EXTRA TIP from Joey: Some people say “I don’t have time for exercise in the morning.”
And here’s my reply to that: “You don’t need 60-90 for a morning fitness session. You can get a LOT done in just 10-15 minutes. The key is to do it daily – or almost daily. IF YOUR HEALTH AND LONGEVITY ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU, then just set your alarm 15-20 minutes earlier and make the priceless investment in yourself. It’s YOUR life and only you can take care of yourself. Your body, and quality of life are in YOUR HANDS. Make the most of the gift of life you’ve been given.” — Joey
I hope you found that helpful – and that it’s something you want to share with others who can use the help…
One way to day that is by posting it on your social media pages – and using the buttons below. That also helps me create more of these posts to share with YOU 🙂

Hi Joey, My wife’s right knee has cartilage loss and makes it very difficult to walk. My wife[Georgie] walked for exercise which helped her maintain her weight. She now has gained weight. I feel for my wife because she also has hypothyroid issue that she takes meds for. My wife is 65 and like many women have conditions that gaining weight is a serious issue. I know proper diet and exercise helps. What exercises do you suggests for my wife?
Thanks
Don
Hi Don – this is a challenge for me to advise on… Ideally she should be seen by a physical therapist and prescribed a specific protocol for exercise of the joint – and for the rest of body.
One thing that might help in the meantime is a compression knee brace. These can be found at most good drug stores and department/sports stores.
Let me know if you’re already doing the above.
It’s great to see a man who cares about his wife enough to seek help like this 🙂
Keep me posted, Don.
Joey
